  • Day 69 – 216.9 pounds

    June 8th, 2016

D.69-216.9 – Another busy day where food became an afterthought and I ended up eating 4 eggs, and Iced White Chocolate Mocha, and a cheese danish the entire day.  I should have eaten more food (especially considering I worked out today) and I certainly should have ended it with a healthier option.  So I have mixed feelings: proud for having worked out, not eating too much, but not proud of my Starbucks escapade.  At least there was no gain today! (Down 14.8pounds)

    Fitness

Did another round of personal training and continued to focus on upper body strength.  I don’t remember if I’ve discussed this, but the focus on upper body strength is by my request.  My legs have received and continue to receive quite a bit of a workout due to running, but my upper body has been left largely neglected.

    Breakfast

I had an early start this morning as I had to once again partake in a study that is being conducted on the express lanes in LA County.  So I had to be up and early so that I could get started at 6am on the freeways.  Anyway, all this to say that I had to make a very quick pair of scrambled eggs before I headed out the door.

    Lunch

After being done with the traffic studies I did a little shopping around for a home project that I’m working on and forgot I hadn’t eaten until about 3pm.  I didn’t have time to cook anything decent so I was tempted for a moment to just hit up the drive through at a fast-food place.  However, I went home and instead made myself some more scrambled eggs. lol

    Dinner

Still needing to work on some things for school and work and overall exhausted, I didn’t want to spend any time cooking so I went for a quick drive after working out and bought myself and Iced White Chocolate Mocha and a Cheese Danish for dinner.

  • Day 68 – 217.4 pounds

    June 6th, 2016

D.68-217.4 – It was quite a long day as I worked on my SR-91 project in Riverside County and then had to rush over to school in the evening, but the guilt from my terrble eating the day before kept me in check and I avoided the temptation of going for the easy foods that could have derailed me further. (Down 14.1 pounds)

    Fitness

Not time for exercise today: crazy long with work in Riverside County and then rushing to USC for my evening class.

    Breakfast

I felt so terrible after my donut overindulgence the day before that I couldn’t bring myself to eat anything solid for breakfast.  I left my apartment and drove to one of my projects without eating anything, but once I got off the freeway I opted for one of these Naked juices so I could get something healthy in my body and also to make sure I’m not shocking my metabolism too much with  overindulgence and then starving myself.

    Lunch

The smoothie was enough to carry my through to lunch. I had been giving it some thought throughout the morning on where I should go for lunch to get something healthier.  I ended up going to Vons and picked up one of their salad bowls.  It was light, delicious, and cheap.  This would be enough to keep me from getting hungry during work, but I knew I would have to plan for my next move as I got to USC later that evening.

    Dinner

Once at USC, I stopped in at Starbucks and bought one of their lunch deals where you get to pick a sandwich, chips, a fruit bar, and water for $8. The sandwich was quite delicious–admittedly I was also hungry by this point–and it was enough food to fill me up for dinner and keep me satiated for the rest of the night.

Later in the evening during our class break, I needed to som extra caffeine to keep me going at the end of a very long day so I had a medium dark-roast coffee.

  • Day 67 – 217.8 pounds

    June 6th, 2016

D.67-217.8 – I had a terrible day of eating. My diet consisted of a few donuts and iced white chocolate mocha from Starbucks.  I didn’t have time to make up my long run, but did manage to work out a little. So I guess it was another bad weekend and I really need to be careful as my opportunities to workout this week will be limited. (Down 14.2 pounds)

  • Day 66 – 217.5 pounds

    June 5th, 2016

D.66-217.5 – I skipped my Saturday run and quite proud of myself for doing so. I had a ton of work to catch up on and lots of studying to do for school, so I sacrificed something I love to do and gave my priority to my career and education.  However, I also ate badly at a family party and I now regret it. I suspect eating late also made things worse for this morning’s weigh-in. 😦   (Down 14.2 pounds)

  • Day 65 – 217.0 pounds

    June 4th, 2016

D.65-217.1 – So I’m up a little again.  I was good about my portions yesterday and exercised, so I’m hoping this current turbulence is due to some muscle gain. lol! Since I’ve failed to meet my goal for last month and since I’m also now focusing on building strength, I will set out to cross the 200-pound mark before my race in San Francisco on July 31st.   (Down 14.7 pounds)

  • Day 64 – 216.7 pounds

    June 3rd, 2016

D.64-216.7 – Mentally, spiritually, and in so many other ways, yesterday was an awesome day! Exhausting, but awesome. I could have reported a weight gain today and still have been happy, but instead I’m back in the 216s! Sometimes good things come in waves, so I’m going to continue riding this high to make today even better! (Down 15 pounds)

  • Day 63 – 217.2 pounds

    June 2nd, 2016

D.63-217.2 – I ate relatively lightly and worked out my upper body today, so I am quite proud.  The soreness in my upper body started to subside just in time for another round of upper body reps to renew the soreness. I am actually getting quite excited about all of this renewed focus on my health. I’m hoping this is the start of a self-reinforcing ecosystem of positive feedback and I have so many of you to be thankful for it! 🙂 (Down 14.5 pounds)

  • Day 62 – 217.4 pounds

    June 1st, 2016

D.62-217.4 – Inching back down a little after my weekend of indulgence.  I had every intention of working out yesterday evening because I’m riding this high of excitement for working towards my goals, however my upper body was still quite sore from Monday’s workout and figured it would be best to give it a rest.  (Down 14.3 pounds)

  • Day 61 – 217.7 pounds

    May 31st, 2016

D.61-217.7 – I am proudly typing this with sore arms, but also a little dejected by the weight gain.  I knew this would be a tough weekend on me, but as with everything, mistakes and set-backs are there to provide you with a learning experience.  There were some good things and I’ll focus on those to carry me through the day. Yesterday I had my first 1-hour session with my personal trainer and I am definitely feeling it today. I am excited to see what kind of results I’ll be seeing! (Down 14.0 pounds)

  • Day 60 – 217.5 pounds

    May 30th, 2016

D.60-217.5 – I have gained a little, but I’ve been enjoying my foodie staycation.  I do not advocate the indulging in yummy foods for an entire weekend, but given how much I love food I also don’t regret it.  I felt some redemption from this guilt yesterday by running/hiking 10.34 miles to the Hollywood Sign. This coming week, I am committed to diversifying my exercise routines and will focus on upper body: so I should more to report on this as well. 🙂 (Down 14.2 pounds)
