I love this time of year when the weather turns colder, the days are darker, and the air smells fresh and crisp. Most days were either cloudy or raining this past week, and today was the first fully sunny day. We had breakfast/lunch under these trees, and it was so chilly that I actually found myself looking for the sunny spots to warm up. Normally, I’m the person you’ll see hiding behind poles as I wait to cross the street because I don’t want the sun hitting me. The mountains behind me were full of snow. I just recently learned that only in California do people talk about going to “the snow.” I came across someone from a much colder state who thought it was funny how we refer to “the snow” as a destination. I guess it would seem a little silly if you’re in a region that’s entirely covered in snow.
