I was talking with my mom on the phone fairly late last night, and we were both a bit nostalgic about going to performances. She then asked me if I knew which opera she often thinks about. I’m accustomed to many people name-dropping a famous composer or opera and saying they like it. I think it’s just people being polite or making conversation. She then said that it was Rigoletto and went on to describe my favorite scene with the same passion that I would have describing it. It made me smile from ear to ear! I LOVE having in-depth conversations about operas, and it was extraordinary having that conversation with my mom about Rigoletto.
