It is late, and my mind is a little exhausted, so I am using the following writing prompt I got at random:
“Write about someone hosting a cookie exchange as a cover to hide the true reason for inviting one of their guests.”
The only thing that comes to mind when I hear the words “cookie exchange” is a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie. My sister and I make fun of those movies because they always seem to involve a cookie exchange. I like watching those movies because they’re full of holiday spirit. However, the plots of these movies are as predictable as they are similar. It’s always some big-city character who ends up either stuck or moving to a more rural part of the country and ends up falling in love in about a minute or two, and they end up living happily ever after.
In short, I guess I am saying that cookie exchanges must be a small town tradition because I have never heard of anyone participating in a cookie exchange except on these Hallmark channel movies.
