I used to anxiously await Apple’s event when Steve Jobs was alive. He was a master of presentation and marketing. I was remembering something he said when introducing the iPhone: “this changes everything”. The iPhone introduced a large touchscreen that could be updated to include new functions. The range of functions has exploded beyond even his wildest dreams. Today I was thinking about these words as I was installing WiFi-enabled door locks, light bulbs, and garage door opener and also connecting the iRobot cleaner, the Dyson air purifiers, the microwave, the stove, the oven, and the washing and dryer. All controlled from the phone. Even the car I can unlock and start the air conditioner from the phone.

So yes, Steve Jobs, this changed everything.
